Alonso started music at age 10, beginning with piano studying classical pieces by Mozart and Beethoven. At 15, he shifted to percussion but was captivated by guitar when a friend showed him a few chords. His passion for guitar grew, leading him to write and record a demo of instrumental fingerpicking pieces in 1994, followed by his 1995 rock demo Shades, where he played most parts himself.
Between 1995-1996, Alonso began work on his Cycles album, while playing guitar in bands like the rock cover group Scattered, Smothered, and Covered and the funk/soul band Street Poets. After nine months, he left Street Poets to focus on composition, Latin/Spanish guitar, and jazz, forming the duo Los Sonidos, which performed for a year. In 2000, he produced his own Latin/Spanish instrumental album, Soledad, featuring original and standard pieces.
Alonso continued working on Cycles, releasing it in 2006 as an introspective mix of singer-songwriter, ambient, and folk music. In 2008, he began composing Dimensions, a genre-spanning album that took years to complete. Released in 2017, Dimensions showcases his greatest musical achievement.
